A constant worry with modern technology is our security with
everyday objects such as the iPhone withholding so much of our information.
Modern in apple products have worried people because of the inventions of touch
ID, therefor giving out your finger prints, as well as apple pay which is a
mobile wallet that has your debit or credit card information. Apple has been
put to the test with what they will do to help the government recently, with
the request to unlock a encrypted iPhone owned by a man connected to the San
Bernardino murders who also had connections to ISIS who brings a national
threat to our country. Apple immediately did not comply with the FBI’s request
to build new software to be allowed to guess passwords to a iPhone unlimited
times and because of that they have been in numerous law suits with the FBI.
Apples CEO Tim Cook simply puts it "We do these because these are the
right things to do". This decision to not comply with the FBI’s request is
also because of the chance of that software that the FBI wants apple to build
getting hacked and falling into the wrong hands. These law suits that have been
forced on apple have caused other major companies such as Google, Facebook,
Microsoft, and Twitter to completely agree with Apple within the law suit.
Apple is making advances to make their security harder for the government to
get access but with the upcoming hearings within the law suits we will have to
wait to see what is decided.
